Issue 9 - November 1, 2009

Hello, my Kandi's Korner friends!

I hope you all had a nice Halloween. I can't believe it's November already. Did you remember to change your clocks Sunday? Jay and I didn't. Jay and Jimmy had a early flight out of Salt Lake City Sunday morning to return to Branson, and I drove them to the airport. In order to pick up Jimmy and make it to the airport on time, we had to leave our house at 4:30 AM (I know, glamorous life, huh?). So, our alarm went off at 4:00 AM, we hurried to ready and get Jay's bags into the car when Jay glanced at his phone. It was only 3:30 AM! We could have slept for another hour! UGH! It was a bad time to forget to reset the clocks. Did you know that Jay's brother, Virl, and his wife Chris met that way? They both showed up for church one Sunday an hour early. I guess good things can come from forgetting to change the clocks, but this particular morning for us WASN'T ONE OF THEM!

It was so wonderful to have Jay home for a few days. After his shows in Indiana and Ohio, he had a break for a few days before beginning the Christmas Season in Branson.

At first Jay was coming home last Monday, then leaving Thursday, but Jay decided to go to Hollywood and support Donny on Dancing with the Stars. Did you see Jay in the audience? Didn't he look handsome? : ) I'm glad he went, and so was Donny. It was good for Donny to have his big brother there. I just wish I could have been there, too! : )

It's been a busy few weeks for me. After Sharee and I got our booth at The Quilted Bear set up, we drove to Las Vegas for our annual "Cousins Reunion." There are 16 female first cousins and wives of first cousins on my dad's side, and each year we rent a house in Vegas and have a super fun "girl's weekend."  It's a time to relax, catch up with each other, eat, laugh, hang out by the pool, shop, eat some more...you get the picture. I've included some photos of us girls.

Are any of you into yoga? I have a DVD that has a 20 minute yoga routine designed for beginners to do first thing in the morning that Michelle gave to me a few years ago. I love doing it because I always feel better afterwards and it's good for my back (now that the sharp pain is gone). I'm so terribly out of shape right now and it doesn't feel very good to be that way.  I really plan to spend the next year getting physically strong again. Sharee is a certified personal trainer (the girl can do EVERYTHING, sheesh!) and she plans to help me. I think having someone to be accountable to will be helpful for me.

I hope you are all staying warm this time of year. Utah sure gets cold! The drive home from Vegas was a six hour test of the air conditioner in my car and then, as we got closer to home, we had to switch to the heater! Then we had a huge SNOW STORM the next day! It was kind of a shock to the system. I think I'd better retire my sandals and break out the winter boots.

Have a wonderful week!
Kandi
