Issue 13 - April 6, 2010

Hello Friends of Kandi's Korner!

Today is April 6, 2010 and the world is covered with snow where I live here in Utah. I don't know if that sounds strange to you, but having been raised a "Southern California Girl" I'm STILL not used to snow in April! Speaking of Southern California, I had the exciting privilege of spending a few days in my home town of Burbank when Jay was at the Hollywood Show in February.

Here is a photo of Jay and I from that trip.

While he signed autographs, I took a rental car and drove all around the town to see the sights that I hadn't visited in 19 years!

Above:  The home I grew up in. Wow! Did it ever bring back memories to see it again. The hours I spent there playing handball, jump-rope, hopscotch, skateboarding, flag twirling....memories just came FLOODING back.

This is the Baskin Robbins where I had my first job at age 15. It's still there on the corner of Victory and Buena Vista.

My junior high school - Luther Burbank

The spot behind my elementary school where Scott Rippey asked me to "go with him" in 6th Grade. Ah, the memories.....If you haven't visited your home town in a few decades, I highly recommend it. Just remember - everything will look smaller to you than you remember it. Ha!

Speaking of trips to special places, I'm so excited to go to Branson, Missouri next week to begin setting up my case in the Apple Tree Mall for my FOURTH official "Kandi's Korner." The FIRST was the website that is still online, but only contains a few items which I will be putting on sale TODAY! The SECOND was the end-caps that Sharee and I (mostly Sharee) had at Kirkpatricks in Saratoga Springs, Utah. The THIRD is my twelve-foot booth I currently have at The Quilted Bear in Provo, Utah. This new case will be a lot to take on, especially long distance. Fortunately, Lynnell, one of the wonderful managers at The Apple Tree has agreed to keep it arranged and stocked during the weeks when I'm not in town.

Here's the scoop for my Branson case: It is a BRAND NEW locked glass case inside the Apple Tree Mall on 76 Highway (The Strip) in Branson, Missouri. The mall is a huge building (like a Wal-Mart) that is full of individual booths run by local and long distance crafters and antique dealers. It is located just across the strip from the theater where Jay and his brothers will be performing this year...how convenient is that?! It will be at the beginning of Row C in a booth with other glass cases. Mine will be right on the corner. (Or should I say "Korner"...oh, I'm so clever...Ha!) I'm so excited to get it started. I plan to exhibit items personally autographed by Jay, jewelry that I will make, vintage items that I collect and maybe even some baby and other miscellaneous items from my Provo Booth. At first I was concerned that being locked, people might be deterred from my case, but I now appreciate that my items will stay safe, neat and protected. Employees have a key at the front desk and can open it for anyone who asks, and that makes me happy.

Well, I guess I'd better get to work on that jewelry and lower those prices on my website! Have a wonderful spring day - whether you have snow or not!  :-)

Have a wonderful day!

Kandi
