Issue 17 - August 2, 2010

Hello, Friends!

I hope that you are all enjoying a wonderful, relaxing summer.  It has been a very busy one for our little family this year. Since I last wrote, we traveled a LOT, have been able to see some amazing sights, and met with many charming people. They say "a picture is worth a thousand words" so I thought I'd say a few thousand right here...

Here is a photo of Marcus from the "Olive Osmond Cabin Dedication" in Samaria, Idaho in May. That was a wonderful experience to tour the two-bedroom cabin where Jay's mother was raised, listen to the service, help plant a tree, and get to meet some of you for the very first time.

Inside Mother's cabin is her old stove (left photo). I got VERY excited when I saw it because my grandmother, Rose Harris, had one that was VERY similar (right photo).  (My grandmother's stove is now owned by my uncle.) I've seen my grandma's stove EVERY year at my Family Reunions in Portage, Utah my entire life. I watched my grandma "can" fruit on that stove when I was a little girl. My cousins and I would warm our feet by it's heat in the snowy winters. Sometimes I got to "poke" the wood to keep the fire burning inside. Her old stove is still very sentimental to me and my family. The really interesting thing is that the two stoves sit only a few miles apart from each other, in towns on each side of the Utah-Idaho border. Small world, huh? I remember how excited my mother-in-law and I both were when we first discovered that she and my father were raised just a few miles apart, but never knew each other.

Here is a photo of Kandi's Korner in Provo that I took just before we left for the UK Tour at the end of June. Since then, I've been away from home for an entire month so I haven't had any time to do any updating.

Some of you have asked about my etsy shop online. Thank you for your interest! As you can see, it's empty at the moment, but I plan to start filling it up again once I get settled in Branson with Jay and Marcus in August.

I will be staying with Jay in Missouri through the fall season and the Christmas shows. Marc will attend school for a semester there. It will be a fun adventure for us.

I will also be updating my Kandi's Korner case at the Apple Tree Mall in Branson with more Osmond memorabilia, so keep an eye out!  :-)

We had a wonderful time during the UK Tour. I was impressed by the loyal fans that would often travel from venue to venue. I truly love England and was thrilled to be able to visit Wales for the first time.

After the tour, Jay and I, along with our three boys and Jimmy's family, went on a seven day Mediterranean cruise. It was the first family vacation that the five of us have had together in 12 years! We've traveled together, but this was the first trip that didn't involve work. It was great fun. We got to see parts of Italy, France and Spain.

Our three sons, Marcus, Eric and Jason at the Windjammer Cafe
(the place on the ship where we usually ate on the cruise)

Jay wanted me to include this photo of him leaning over the railing of our cabin.
He doesn't like heights, but he overcame that fear to pose for this picture. I'm very proud of him!  :-)

A cute photo of Jimmy and Jay at one of our ports of call

After the cruise, we decided to stay three extra days in Rome. Jimmy and Michelle had been there before, but Jay and I hadn't, so it was especially exciting for us. I was truly amazed at how beautiful (and hot) Italy is.

Jay and I at the famous Trevi Fountain - an absolutely gorgeous place to be.

A few days after returning home to Utah, it was time for my annual Harris Family Reunion. Here is a photo of me with my parents

Jason and me at the lake nearby Portage where we like to go boating.

I also am including a shot of the entrance to the "Harris Farm", est. 1869 in Woodruff, Idaho by my greatgreat-great grandfather, Robert Harris, Jr. For those of you who have been to the "Olive Osmond Cabin" I just wanted to say that Jay's family is not the ONLY family to have their name on a big rock. Hee Hee!

As you can see, it's been a busy and wonderful summer for me. I'm looking forward to Branson. Maybe I will get to see some of you there!
