Jay and Kandilyn will be celebrating their anniversary on the Osmond Brothers’ cruise next week. Happy Anniversary Jay & Kandilyn!
Eric is working on getting some sound clips from his CD online to share with all of you. He is so excited about his new CD!
Jay and Kandilyn’s sons will be taking part in Jay’s book too. They will be writing their own little sections to include in the book - which should be a fun perspective to read.
Please feel free to leave your anniversary wishes for Jay and Kandilyn under this week’s entry, and I’ll make sure they see them.
Have a great week,
Terri

Jay has gotten some work done on his book this past week, and is feeling really good about the progress he’s making. We’re working on a schedule in order to try and reach the goal of finishing it by his birthday in March. So far, we’re right on track!
Eric’s CD is ready, and we’ll have it available for purchase on www.jayosmond.com very soon. We hope to be able to include clips of each track, so that you can preview the CD. Eric is so excited, and Jay and Kandilyn are quite pleased with his accomplishment.

Work is progressing on Jay’s book, and he wanted to share the title with all of you…
Jay Osmond - The Stages of My Life
It has a clever concept - formatted like a theatrical performance (therefore, the play on words with the title).
Jay has been putting aside a lot of his writings and favorite photos for quite awhile now. We’ve got the format put together, and now we are just inserting his stories into the proper spots.
This week Jay has committed to finishing his couse in American Heritage, but beginning next week, it will be full steam ahead with the book. Now that the 50th anniversary celebrating is over, Jay wants to really focus on his book project. He would love to be able to release the book on his birthday in March, (but I say…we’ll just have to see about that - ha). It is a goal though, and we’ll be working very hard to make it happen.
Jay appreciated all of the wonderful comments about his family’s performances with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square. Obviously, these performances meant a lot to Jay, as well as the whole family. I also wanted to thank those of you who complimented the photo webpages I put together on Jay’s site from the performances. I really appreciated so many of you taking the time to let me know you enjoyed the photos.
Keep up the great work with “adopting a missionary,” Jay is loving your enthusiasm with that!
Have a great week!
Terri
Jay Update - Week of August 4, 2008
Sorry for not posting last week - it was a busy time! Hopefully all of you were able to catch the performances with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square July 25 and 26. If you weren’t able to be there physically, perhaps you caught it online or on the BYU Television channel. (BYU Television, by the way, is scheduled to rebroadcast the performance this Friday, August 8 at 4:00 PM Mountain Daylight Time.) These were tremendous performances, and quite a memorable way for the Osmond Family to end their 50th Anniversary Celebration.
The Osmond Family also performed on the live radio broadcast of “Music and The Spoken Word” Sunday, July 27. At the end of their performance, President Monson presented each Osmond with their individual favorite scripture, beautifully framed. He concluded his presentation by telling the family to “keep singing!”
President Monson then asked the family to turn and face the choir. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir then sang “God Be With You Til We Meet Again” to the Osmond family. It was a very moving moment for each member of the family.
Jay is just about the finish up an Alaskan cruise where he is performing with brothers Wayne and Merrill. Jay and Kandilyn’s youngest son, Marcus, accompanied him on this cruise.
Their middle son, Eric, is just about to release his CD. The CD is a fable concept, that features songs written and performed by Eric. Jay will soon be sharing his perception of Eric’s CD on his website. On this CD, Eric displays the depth of his musical abilities, and Jay hopes that Osmond fans will not only enjoy the CD themselves, but share it with their children as well. The CD will be available through Jay’s website soon.
Oh, and Jay shaved off his goatee after the performances last week!
Week of July 21, 2008
Jay, along with brothers Wayne, Merrill and Jimmy, performed at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conneticut this past Saturday. Jay had Eric along with him for this trip. Next up are the performances with the Osmond family and the Morman Tabernacle Choir this week, and Saturday night’s performance (July 26) can be viewed online!
Jay was really happy to see all the posts last week about the missionaries, and he hopes we can keep that post and it’s information going.
Jay would also like to thank those of you who have joined his uPlej Network, he was very touched.
Week of July 14 - For the Missionaries
Jay was thinking…with Kandilyn and him having their son serving his mission in Tennessee, and Alan and Suzanne’s son serving in Georgia, it got him to thinking about all of you out there who have children serving missions right now. Knowing how
these missionaries love a good meal now and then as they work through this
important journey, we thought we’d open up this category on the blog for
those with children serving missions. Please feel free to post their name,
where they are serving, and their contact info if you’d like fellow-Osmond
fans to make contact with your missionary.

Jay has been trying to finish up a class, so he’s been spending a lot of time at the library each week. Yes…he is still working towards that degree, he is SO close! Life and career keep interrupting this goal, but it WILL be reached! Even though he’s been busy with his studies, Jay found time to toss the ball around with his sons and friends this past week. Life is getting a bit back to normal after the hectic pace he was keeping for the recent world tour.
Something Jay was quite pleased to be able to do a few days ago was to start his own uPlej Network. Jay’s network supports the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, which he is doing out of love and respect for his brother Alan, and nephew David. Jay would love for all of you to visit his uPlej webpage. Here is a little overview of what uPlej is all about:
uPlej (pronounced “you pledge”) is a Professional Fund Raising Organization that combines social networking with charitable giving. uPlej has taken the best aspects of social networking and developed a powerful, yet simple system for individuals, businesses and charities to raise money for their favorite causes across the United States.
You pay $4.99 per month and create your own uPlej user page. Then spread the word and tell others to do the same. $1 a month from each friend who joins your uPlej network will go to the charity as well as $1 from their friends and $1 from their friends’ friends.
This gives you the opportunity to raise a significant amount of money for your charity every month simply by connecting with other charitable individuals, businesses or charities.
If you have a spare moment, please visit Jay’s network at: www.uplej.com/jayosmond
Your time is appreciated!
An update on Jason (from his father’s perspective)
Jason is doing very well, and has some amazing stories about the people he is meeting and baptizing. He loves his work in serving the Lord, and does it with an cheerful attitude. He sends us cassette tapes, pictures often, and writes weekly to us. The experiences he is having out there are phenomenal! Thank you to all those who have sent him letters of encouragement and treats. They brighten his day!
I can tell it’s pretty hard out there, just from the sound of his voice, and what he writes, but he was prepared for this work many years before he left. When he left for his mission, he knew it would be tough, but he was determined to not let slammed doors, mean dogs, and rude comments stop him from enjoying his mission. His first comment to me on Mother’s Day (this is one of two times he can call home) was, “Dad, I had my first slammed door, and then she opened it again and yelled at us! It was pretty cool!” Those of us who know my son, know that his positive reaction to situations and people is one of the many qualities that make him who he is. Not only is he growing spiritually, but he is also maturing emotionally, mentally, socially and physically. He is helping other elders find joy in their work, and that it doesn’t always have to be hard! He is, however, learning that life is not always fun and games (though he tries to make it that way). He is learning to handle responsibility, and lead other missionaries to do their work with a cheery attitude and a steady determination. I assure you he is taking the Lord’s work very seriously, but he also is heeding the Lord’s directive to “be of good cheer!”
I am so pleased to see the progress of my son both personally, and as a missionary.
His last words to me were, “The church is true!”

Turns out Country star Tim McGraw’s drummer is an Osmond fan! Tim was performing in Salt Lake City last Friday, and Jay and drummer Billy Mason were supposed to get together for a visit, but unfortunately, a time couldn’t be worked out.
Jay has been doing a lot of walking. He’s been trying to do a few miles each day, and says his route is a beautiful walk.
Jay is enjoying a little time off - the brothers’ next performance date isn’t until July 19th at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conneticut. The brothers always enjoy performing at the Mohegan Sun, and Jay looks forward to seeing those of you who plan to be at that show.
Jay would like to remind everyone to check out son, Eric’s webpage: ww.jayosmond.com/ericosmond
Jay urges everyone to view his nephew David’s public service announcement for uPlej. It is on Jay’s Osmond Family Links webpage:
Leave a message for Jay!
We are now opening up a category for all of you to leave messages for Jay. This is Jay’s way of keeping in touch with all of his fans/friends out there, and we encourage you to visit often, as the latest going on in Jay’s life will also be posted regularly.
Thanks for visiting “The Beat Blog” with Jay Osmond!
