An excerpt from Stages...
My Life is
an Open Book
If you’ve been
around since the 1960s and 70s, maybe you’ve heard of my family, The
Osmonds. My name is Jay Wesley Osmond, and I am the sixth of nine
children. I have been performing with my family since I was two and
a half years old. Together we’ve had a great run of over 50 years in
the crazy world of show business. We’ve had number one hits,
numerous gold and platinum records, performed for Presidents of the
United States and the Queen of England, and have had successful runs
headlining in major venues throughout the world. One of our record
albums was taken to the moon by Neil Armstrong, and when they played
the song Aquarius on the moon, it was the rendition with the
Osmond Brothers singing back-up for Andy Williams. We’ve been
honored with many awards including a star on The Hollywood Walk of
Fame, have had sell-out tours, produced top-rated television shows,
performed with many celebrities, and have had several documentaries
produced about our family. We have experienced many ups and downs.
My family has been blessed with success and failure; we’ve had a lot
of children collectively, and have experienced many heartaches and
triumphs individually.
Due to the
constant spotlight I have lived under, I sometimes feel like my life
has been an open book…as though I have lived on a stage all of my
life.
Those feelings are
what led me to write this book about my life as though it has been a
series of scenes in a play.
