Shirley Yarnell, left, and Chris Burton meet the legendary
Jay Osmond at the Embassy Theatre, Skegness.

Osmonds dream finally comes true

By John Cowpe

As teenagers, two Skegness Grammar School girls used to dream that one day legendary band The Osmonds would visit Skegness.

Now the dream has come to close to reality for Chris Burton, nee Collins, and Shirley Yarnell, nee Warren.

This August three of the Osmond brothers, Jimmy, Wayne and Jay, have been performing in Jimmy's American Jukebox Show at the Embassy Theatre, Skegness, on Monday evenings.

So Chris and Shirley took the opportunity to meet them.

Chris, daughter of former Skegness Standard editor Gordon Collins and his wife, Jean, says: "In the last few years I have been reacquainted with the Osmonds, so much as that I visited them at the Osmond Family Theatre in Branson, Missouri."

"I had a brilliant time there, but never in my wildest dreams did I think they would come to Skegness."

"Having had the privilege to meet the Osmonds over recent years, they are as genuine as they appear on TV interviews, and on their first visit to Skegness they thought it a great place."
