One of the prizes raffled off at the The Osmond Brothers' Fan
Convention in London Saturday, August 14, 1999, was a sight-seeing trip
with Jay and his son Jason. Here is the account of this lucky winner's
"Day With Jay!"

I was thrilled to be asked
to write an account of my London sightseeing tour with Jay and Jason. It's
quite a formidable task however, as I'm not sure mere words can adequately
express how wonderful the experience was and how priviledged I was to be
part of it.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Reunion. I'd been looking forward to it
for ages and it was every bit as good as I had expected and obviously I'd
bought tickets for the raffle. I never expected to win and when I did I
was so shocked! I was conscious of standing there with my mouth open
wanting to scream with euphoria, but I ended up staring like a garden
gnome with people prodding me and saying "It's you!" (Do you have garden
gnomes in the States???) The rest of the day I was in a daze. It really
was the best prize I had ever won and I was so excited! I went back to my
hotel and sent loads of postcards to my friends at work telling them all
about it!
Sunday was stressful as I had to wait to hear details of the trip
and Jackie, Lorraine and I kept missing each other on the phone. My
fingernails are even shorter than usual with the tension! Finally we made
the arrangements and it was actually happening!
I met Jay and Jason at
their hotel and Jackie, Maggie, Carolyn and Lorraine saw me safely on the
tour. I loved having all the photos taken! My colleagues at work will have
to sit for hours looking at them and hearing my commentary (they've only
just finished hearing about my trip to Branson in April!).
The weather was
fine for the first part of the trip. It rained later, but who cares! We
sat on the top deck of an open air bus and had a commentary on all the
sights we passed and a history of the area. It was a really good
afternoon. Jay was excellent company and a delight to be with. He's a
wonderful man and we were able to talk about our respective lives, as well
as seeing all the major sights of London - Trafalgar Square; Piccadilly
Circus; Tower Bridge; The Tower of London etc., etc. I am originally from
Lancashire and I now live in Wales and it was nice to see London as well
as spend quality time with Jay.
Jason was also wonderful
company. He is a very special boy and an absolute credit to his parents. I
really enjoyed meeting him and hearing all his interesting comments
throughout the journey. It is obvious to see the love between him and Jay.
What a great dad Jay is, and he's so lucky to have a son like
Jason.
We all took lots of photographs! The trip took two hours, it
wasn't long enough! There was so much more of London to see and so much
more to say to Jay! Jackie, Lorraine, and Maggie met us in the rain at the
end of the trip and we had a memorable, but fun, journey back in the back
of a friend's van! I think it gave Jason a chance to see how his dad had
traveled around London in the 70's, but that's another story!
The afternoon
will always be special to me. I had a really good time, I was very happy.
I don't know how to express it any better. It's one of those days I will
always remember when I'm feeling down. In fact, the whole weekend was
brilliant!
Thank you so much to Jay and Jason Osmond. It was a privilege to
spend time with you. It was nice to feel so welcome and I hope you enjoyed
it too! Thanks to Wayne, Merrill and Jimmy for the Reunion. We all had a
great time. And thanks to all the others at the event who came up to me
and congratulated me on winning and hoped that I would enjoy myself! I
certainly did! I also express my gratitude to Jackie, Lorraine, Carolyn
and Maggie for helping set up my prize, it was a unique
experience!"
